Concrete Petrography

Admaterials has a pool of trained and experienced experts. The company is capable of providing concrete petrography, failure analysis and retrofitting/repair consultancy. Admaterials has developed various in-house test methods to client’s direction. We have also completed various consultancy projects on concrete, aggregate, tile and other building materials.
Admaterials has the equipments and expertise to satisfy the full range of petrographic test requirements in the construction industry such as BS 812 – Pt 104, BS 7943, BS EN 932 – 3, SS EN 12620, ASTM C295 for concrete aggregates, and ASTM C856 for hardened concrete.

Our concrete petrography can be used to investigate the following hardened concrete/aggregate parameters:
1. Aggregate type (mineralogical), characteristics, size & distribution
2. Cement type
3. Mineral additives (ground granulated blast furnace slag, fly ash, silica fume, etc.)
4. Early freezing, bleeding & segregation, micro-cracking, crack age
5. Degree of cement hydration, air void content, and water cement (w/c) ratio
6. Compaction and micro-porosity
7. Carbonation depth, secondary deposits, contamination
8. Alkali silica reaction (ASR), Alkali carbonate reaction (ACR)
9. Sulphate attack (Ettringite & Thaumasite), delayed Ettringite formation (DEF)
10.Fire damage
